Taking SCDC to the Next Stage

Stonewall Community Development Corporation (SCDC) incorporated in January of 2013 and received its official 501c3 designation in September of 2014. At our annual meeting in July of 2015, we expanded the Board of Directors, created an Advisory Board and established the committee structure that will move us to a new level of functionality. As we begin to scale up our corporation, it’s good to look back on where we have come from and how far. So here is an easy to read timeline that will give you a sense of what we have been doing and where we are about to go.
SCDC TIMELINE - January, 2013 through June, 2016
Founding Board convenes, refines Mission & Objectives & Incorporates
Initial outreach discussions, General Discussions with developers about potential approaches
501c3 tax-exempt status obtained
First small public events, First staff hired, Begin professionalization of day to day operations
First Focus Group
First meeting with NYC Housing Preservation & Development
Creation of Project Viability Board Committee and process established to develop protocols for future discussions of specific housing development sites
Program Committee begins process for general program guidelines
Begin to entertain discussions on specific sites and partnerships
WE ARE HERE
Develop Project Plan for Citywide data capture on LGBTQ+ senior housing needs and use this project to:
Gather critical data
Develop a grassroots network of organizations and community leaders
Build our base of support across the 5 Boroughs
Continue developing general programs plan
Launch a series of House party/ fundraiser/outreach events across the five boroughs for Winter/Spring 2016
Continue exploring potential development site partnerships
