On October 1st, 2017 Stonewall Community Development Corporation (SCDC) relocated our office from Lower Manhattan to the new Brooklyn Community Pride Center at Restoration Plaza in Bed Stuy, becoming the second Community Partner in a new alliance of LGBTQ organizations.
This marks the beginning of an aggressive campaign by SCDC to build out rosters of partners in both programming and building development. Now that we have successfully completed and analyzed the citywide survey of LGBTQ senior housing needs, our path is becoming more clear.
On October 24th, long-time community activist Steve Ashkinazy, will throw a “Welcome to Brooklyn” party for us at his lovely brownstone in Park Slope. It’s only $35 for an open bar and refreshments. Come mingle with board and advisory board members to learn more about what we are doing, what we have learned and where we are headed as we work to address this crisis in LGBTQ senior housing. Get tickets here!
By relocating our office, we have embedded ourselves in a community of service providers and clients. We are setting more ambitious goals for diversity for our board and advisory board and we are getting ready to start piloting some concepts, so this is a great move for us.
