About the Event

Public policy and funding is based on data. Most government agencies do not afford the opportunity to self-identify as LGBTQ at point of service. The result is no official data on us.     Stonewall CDC is addressing this issue on two fronts: 1. Working with City, Stete and Federal officials to push for self-identified LGBTQ data collection 2. Partnering with other community organizations to drive participation in their LGBTQ data surveys.

Announcing Becoming Visible Through Data

We are launching our new efforts with an online discussion with Yeshiva University’s Gary L. Stein, JD, MSW and Fordham University's Cathy Berkman, PhD, MSW. We’ll talk about the importance of LGBTQ-specific data and learn about their groundbreaking survey Project Respect: LGBTQ+ Experiences with Healthcare Providers for Serious Illness  (live through August) and some of the amazing information it is already providing. Gary and Cathy will be discussing the degree to which LGBTQ individuals with serious illness and their partners receive care that is discriminatory or disrespectful.
